Product Composition Declaration
Barbican Architectural Products is dedicated to advancing both material transparency as well as a circular economy with our lighting, acoustic, and walls products.
It has been one of the guiding principles of our company to leave this planet suitable for future generations. At Barbican, we approach this goal in seven key ways:
-
Designing high quality, durable, long-life span luminaires and light systems that will not require repair or replacement in the short-term
-
Designing our luminaires with individually field replaceable components (shades/housings, light engines, and electronics) so that if one component fails, the rest of the luminaire is not waste
-
Source components locally whenever possible to reduce embodied carbon
-
Promote transparency in materials used by issuing Product Composition Declarations for luminaires
-
Avoid use of Red List or hazardous materials
-
Allow return of luminaires to Barbican at end of life for complete component reuse/recycling
-
Operating our production facilities on renewable energy sources
In addition to the above, Barbican was proud to work with Green Light Alliance as a Prime Spec Partner in the Life Cycle Assessment Incubator with the goal of advancing collective standards toward material transparency and promoting the circular economy.
